Popsicle Stick Snowman Wagon Craft Idea

When the frost nips at your nose and the snow drapes the world in white, it’s the perfect time to bring warmth and creativity indoors with a delightful project. This winter, gather your little ones and spark their imaginations with the Popsicle Stick Snowman Wagon craft. Our engaging activity not only cultivates creativity but also provides a charming way to explore the magic of winter with kids.

Craft Supplies:

Before starting any craft project, it’s crucial to gather all necessary supplies to ensure a smooth crafting experience. For the popsicle stick snowman wagon, you’ll need a few simple materials, most of which can be found around the house or at your local craft store.

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {3 per craft}
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks {2 per craft}
  • School Glue
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Red Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • optional – Christmas Tree Stickers

These supplies pave the way for endless creativity. Feel free to add glitter or other embellishments to personalize your snowman wagon even further.

Directions:

Creating a popsicle stick & handprint snowman wagon is a straightforward process that can be broken down into manageable steps.

  • First things first – grab THREE large popsicle sticks and TWO mini sized ones {this is per winter wagon you want to make today.}
  • Lay the three large ones next to each other, one by one, on a flat surface.
  • Now grab your other two mini popsicle sticks and glue them the other direction, on top of the jumbo sticks, to create a simple rectangle shape.
  • Set it aside to allow it to dry a bit.
  • While that is drying, grab your white cardstock paper and a marker.
  • Pick a hand. Any hand will do. Trace your hand on the white paper and trim it out using scissors.
  • Now for the elements that make it into FIVE snowmen. Cut out five black hats and glue them on each fingertip.
  • At this point in time you should also draw on their faces.
  • Out of the remaining black cardstock, cut out TWO wagon wheels, as well as a handle for the wagon.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Snowman Wagon, glue all the cardstock pieces in place, as as well as securing the handprint “snowmen” to the back of the wagon.
  • Follow that up with a few tree farm stickers and any other embellishments you see fit {think rhinestones, glitter, holiday stickers etc.}
  • Then display proudly for all to see!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
