Pipe Cleaner & Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree

Super Easy Pipe Cleaner & Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree Craft

Creating holiday decorations at home brings families together while adding personal touches to festive celebrations. This simple pipe cleaner and popsicle stick Christmas tree craft combines creativity with affordability, making it perfect for parents, teachers, and anyone looking to add handmade charm to their holiday decor!

Craft Supplies:

Most of these supplies can be found at dollar stores, making this an incredibly budget-friendly craft project.

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 3 per craft
  • School Glue
  • Green Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Green Pipe Cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First have children assemble the base of their tree by gluing THREE popsicle sticks together to look like a triangle.
  • Set aside to let it dry.
  • Repeat for each craft stick tree piece you want to make today.
  • Next squirt some paint on the paper plate and have children paint their newly made popsicle stick shape completely green.
  • Again, set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat for each piece.
  • Now grab your scissors and sheets of cardstock paper.
  • Cut out a small rectangle for the bottom of the craft, as well as a star shape for on top.
  • Go ahead and glue those two pieces to the popsicle stick piece to represent the trunk & star of the tree.
  • To finish off the Pipe Cleaner and Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree pieces – grab your pipe cleaners {about two to four per craft} and have children fold/wrap them around the popsicle stick shape to represent lights and garlands {because of the wire in the pipe cleaners, they will stay put without glue}
  • At this point in time, they can also glue on some glitter and rhinestones on top of the pipe cleaners as ornaments.
  • Once done, set it all aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
  • For displaying – glue some string to the back for easy hanging on the tree or adding to gift packages!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
