With summer creeping up, it’s means it’s almost watermelon season!
Who is excited?! I know I am!!
Building off that excitement, I’m SUPER giggly inside to share with you all my Button Watermelon Kid Craft idea and w/free printable with you all today!
This summer themed watermelon kid craft idea is not only super simple but really inexpensive and fun for all ages. Even adults will want to recreate their own paper piece!
To complete this fun craft, all you need to do is download the free watermelon slice template you will find below, print it out in color and then grab some buttons & your school glue, so you can get straight to work with your child! Then draw some lines and layer on the buttons!
It’s super easy, not messy and absolutely perfect for some indoor “beat the heat” craft fun. I’ve set up the basic frame work – it’s your job to get the creative juices flowing with this watermelon craft idea!

Craft Supplies:
- Watermelon Printable – ON OUR LANDING PAGE
- White Cardstock Paper
- Green/Black Craft Buttons
- School Glue

Directions:
- First print out the watermelon slice template printable, listed above in the supply list, on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. You only need ONE print per watermelon button craft.
- Now grab your school glue and put a line of glue along the green rim of the watermelon.
- Have children place their green buttons on top of the glue, until the rim is completely covered.
- Now grab the black buttons {aka – seeds} and have children glue them in the center where the pink/red of the watermelon is.
- Once done, set it aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
- Don’t forget to snap a few pictures during and after, so I can see what you both come up with! #gluedtomycrafts
