Keep the kids entertained this summer with this fun, easy-to-make popsicle stick bee craft! Let their creativity run wild and watch as they make a buzz-worthy masterpiece!
First things first - get the glue gun hot and ready!
Assemble the base of your bee friend by gluing the jumbo popsicle sticks and mini popsicle sticks together. Start off by laying the TWO jumbo popsicle sticks next to each other and on top of the pair, start gluing the 13 mini popsicle sticks ONTO the jumbo ones, to create a fence.
Set aside to let it dry completely.
Repeat the gluing step for each valentine bee friend you want to make today.
When dry enough, go ahead and squirt both shades of craft paint on the paper plate.
One by one, take a paint brush and alternate black & yellow stripes on the front of the popsicle stick piece, until it's completely covered {use the lines of the mini sticks to guide you with the pattern.}
Go ahead and also paint one side of your TWO mini clothespins with the black craft paint, as well.
Set all the painted pieces aside.
Now grab your black cardstock paper and scissors.
Cut out a half circular head with antennas, as well as a triangle stringer for the bee.
Go ahead and adhere the wiggle eyes in place on the head piece.
Now go ahead and glue ALL the black paper pieces to the painted popsicle stick shape from earlier. The head towards the top and the stringer cutout on the bottom.
This next step is CRUCIAL. Take your TWO painted mini clothespins and pinch them around the heart shape, to give the look like it's hands/arms are holding it.
To finish off the Popsicle Stick Heart Holding Bee craft, hot glue the combined piece you just made, to the center of the painted popsicle stick shape.
Follow that up by hot gluing TWO paper heart doilies to the back of the piece to create it's wings.
Add any other embellishments you see fit {maybe a small bow or a little bit of glitter!}
Then let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!
