Upcycled Dollar Tree Pumpkin Sign Turned Snowman Decor
You guys! You won’t believe how simple this upcycled pumpkin sign turned snowman craft really is! If you can move a paint brush, you can “build” or should I say “paint” your own snowman decor piece within minutes!
Not to mention, the supplies for this winter theme project are rather inexpensive too. In most cases, you will only spend ONE dollar from start to finish to recreate it. That if’s you are already an avid crafter with most to all of supplies already in your stash {all you need is craft paint and small amount of felt!} If not, the paint, brushes and craft felt will probably run you less than $5 total, depending on where you get them. And with the one dollar will spend to get the pumpkin sign from Dollar Tree, this quick DIY can run you less than $10 total!
Now friends… I don’t necessarily have a full, detailed tutorial to share {it’s honestly that easy!} but I’m going to give you a quick run down of how I recreated mine. Just keep scrolling to learn how YOU can recreate it today!

THE CRAFT SUPPLIES:
- Pumpkin Sign {Dollar Tree has them and I’ve seen similar styles this year in other places}
- Large Trash Bag {for your working area}
- Sharp Craft Knife or Scissors
- White Craft Paint
- Black Craft Paint
- Orange Craft Paint
- Choice of Color Craft Paint {for the scarf!}
- Small Paint Brushes
- Large Paint Brushes
- Small Paper Plate
- Black Craft Felt
- Choice of Colored Craft Felt
- Hot Glue Gun
- optional materials – ribbon for easy hanging
THE SIMPLE DIRECTIONS:
- First things first – flip over your pumpkin sign and remove any & all stickers from the back of the pumpkin sign. I don’t know why, but this step took some effort on my part {it felt like Dollar Tree didn’t want the price tag to ever come off} but after you get that step done, it’s smooth sailing from there- promise! If any stickiness is leftover, you can always use some Goo Gone adhesive remover on a cotton ball to get that last bit off.
- Once the sticker is remove, you are ready to start painting! Lay your sign on a large trash bag to keep your working surface clean.
- Now grab your paper plate and all the crafts paints & brushes.
- Start off my squirting some white craft paint on the sign. Paint the ENTIRE back of the pumpkin sign white. If desired, add more than one layer of white craft paint to really get good coverage.
- Once you have the white down, go ahead and add the black eyes and buttons {as well as some black lines around the sign to give the snowman some definition.
- Next up – paint on the orange nose and scarf.
- When you have the painting done, go ahead and set aside to allow it all to dry completely.
- Now the next step can go TWO ways. You can either cover up the cat from the front design with your craft felt hat OR use your sharp craft knife to remove it completely. The choice is yours and I highly encourage you to play around with some ideas! At first I was just going to put the felt hat on mine as is {and not do any removing of the sign} but I didn’t like how big my snowman hat would have to be. The choice is yours though!
- Either which way you do the above step, go ahead and cut out your snowman hat from the craft felt.
- Use a hot glue gun to attach it to the painted snowman sign.
- The last step – if desired, add some ribbon to the back for easy hanging. Then literally hang it {maybe in the center of a wreath} or prop it on a shelf for easy displaying that way.
- Whatever you decide to do, take a step back and admire your awesome piece because seriously – who would have thought?! Am I right?!
