Paper & Chalk Gnome Craft

Many of the materials I used today in this chalk art gnome beard tutorial can be found at your local dollar store or even the grocery store.

Chalk Art Gnome - Kid Craft

Sidewalk Chalk Gnome Craft For Kids

Oh boy! It’s another chalk art craft tutorial and this one “might be” even easier than the ones we have shared on our website before!

Best part? Depending on the colors you choose for the gnome’s paper hat, you can easier change it our for the different seasons, throughout the year. Maybe green for St. Patrick’s Day? Or red for Valentine’s Day? The choice is yours and I just know you & your child are going to make it AWESOME regardless!

Many of the materials I used today in this chalk art gnome beard tutorial can be found at your local dollar store or even the grocery store. Heck – you might even have a few leftover chalk pieces, from the past summer season, in your garage right now. That means NO need to pull out your hair and head to a fancy craft store with the crowds. We made it super simple for you to make it happen right now – as always!

Now what are we waiting for?! All the details can be found below in our simple to follow step-by-step tutorial. Although I don’t have a free printable like my past chalk art tutorials, this paper gnome craft is really easy to start on your own and complete just as fast. Promise!

So friends – don’t let this crafty idea slip away! This unique kid craft idea from Glued To My Crafts NEEDS to be done with your child! Bookmark this very post and later this week, make some colorful “one-of-a-kind” chalk art gnome friends with your child. I just know you are going to love the end result!

Craft Supplies:

  •  Paper Craft Scissors
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Tan Cardstock Paper
  • White Sidewalk Chalk
  • Baby Wipes
  • School Glue or Glue Stick
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your sheet of black cardstock and the scissors.
  • Fold the black cardstock paper in half and open it back up.
  • Use the scissors to cut straight up the center, to create two equal paper pieces.
  • Reserve one black paper piece for today’s craft and save the other for another day {or maybe use it for our troll version!}
  • Now grab your white chalk {or switch it out for another color!}
  • Make several lines, all over the black cardstock, to recreate the gnome’s beard. Add as much or as little as you like.
  • When done with the chalk, set aside the paper piece and clean your hands off with a few baby wipes.
  • Make sure your hands are nice and dry before moving on 🙂
  • Now grab your sheet of patterned scrapbook paper and the scissors again.
  • Cut out a large, triangle shape hat for your gnome friend.
  • Set it aside.
  • Now grab your kraft colored cardstock.
  • Cut out a large, oval shaped nose for the gnome.
  • Once you have all your paper pieces cut out, it’s time to assemble your craft!
  • Go ahead and grab all your paper pieces, along with either the stapler or a glue stick.
  • Start off by stapling the triangle gnome hat piece to the top of the black cardstock with the white chalk lines.
  • Follow that up by adding the nose to the center of the paper piece.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit {maybe some glitter or some small stickers for a festive look.}
  • Then display your custom one-of-a-kind paper chalk art gnome piece proudly for all to see!
  • Don’t forget to share pictures of your bearded gnome craft with us on your social media sites! #gluedtomycrafts

Customize It:

  • Did you know you can dip your chalk in water to make the colors more vibrant on your paper? Yup! Just set a small dish with tap water on the table, dip the white chalk in it for a few seconds and then draw on the paper the same way as before.
  • Don’t have chalk on hand? No worries! You can also use white craft paint and a paint brush to make lines or use a white crayon instead!
