I’m so excited to share more about this new craft “toy” with you all today {as well as ALL the awesome new kids craft ideas I have in mind to share in the future, using this new versatile and powerful die cutting machine!}

So what exactly is new with the Cricut Maker 3? Let’s dive right in, as I give you a REAL quick run down of what I think you will love the most about this new machine!

First off – what’s in the box:

Included in the box is the Maker 3 machine, a blade housing and premium fine point blade (already in clamp B), accessory adapter in clamp A, quick start guide, some documents, a USB cable and the power adapter & power cord, specifically for the Maker 3.

There are also some bonus materials {13 x 13 inch sheets of Smart Vinyl, Smart Iron-on, Smart Paper Sticker Cardstock, and Transfer Tape} to get you started with a test project right after you plug it in. You also will receive a free trial subscription to Cricut Access (for new subscribers only.)

Other than buying a few cutting materials for your first few projects, you will be able to set up and use this machine straight out of the box. New Smart Materials:

The first feature I’m super excited for is the technology upgrade this machine got. The Cricut Maker 3 can be used with several different smart materials that don’t need a mat to go through the machine. Hello game-changer for the lazy crafter like me!

With this upgrade, you won’t need a special mat when using adhesive vinyl, iron-on vinyl or their new line of sticker cardstock. The new Cricut Maker 3 Smart Materials can be loaded directly into the machine and cut without a mat. This means you don’t need to measure or fiddle with anything extra. Just pull out your material from the box, load it up and hit cut.

Plus, since no mat is needed with this new machine, it’s absolutely perfect for those super-long, super-precise cuts up to 12ft without a machine mat. Which by the way – these new Smart huge rolls of vinyl come in 21 and 75 ft! WOW! That’s amazing! With that being said, this length of material will come in handy if you are doing larger projects such as bigger signs or you are just wanting to cut several items at once, in bulk, so you cut your time in half. This might be a game changer if you run a business or perhaps use it in a classroom setting.

But wait! Now that I mentioned these cool new product lines, you might be worried that this machine is ONLY for the new smart materials meaning you can’t use what you already have or plan on buying in the future. No – that is NOT the case at all. This particular die cut machine can still use the previous Cricut brand cutting mats and cut over 300 different materials including balsa wood with precision and power. It’s also really good for cutting delicate fabrics, chiffon, canvas, and even silk. Not to mention, even materials such as felt and leather to make your own custom earrings or ornaments with ease {hello easy-peasy Christmas presents this year!}

New Cricut Roll Holder:

So now that we have new materials to play with, we also have fancy new accessories to get excited over!

With the new smart materials, Cricut also recently released the handy Cricut Roll Holder accessory that can only be used with the new Cricut Maker 3. This new device keeps rolled materials aligned, for clean, precise cuts no matter how big they are.

This particular add-on accessory {which is sold separately} also has a built-in trimmer to ensure a straight line when the machine is done cutting. If you are like me, you aren’t exactly a straight cutter so this is a game changer for sure. No more raggedy lines or unusable materials!

A Few More Features:

Now for the power upgrade. The Cricut Maker 3 is about twice as fast as the original and 10x as powerful as the Explore 3. Not to mention, that the precision has also been fine-tuned for those small intricate designs you may want to create with your device.

The Cricut Maker 3 cuts 300+ materials and is compatible with 13 tools (all sold separately) for all your cutting, scoring, and embellishing projects! I might sound like a broken record but it truly is the ultimate cutting machine.

And the last upgrade I want to point out, is that there is now a USB port on the side of the Maker 3 to use as a charging port for devices. This means that while your machine is plugged in and running, you won’t have to worry about your phone or tablet running low on juice as you get your craft on!

Is the Cricut Maker 3 Easy to Use?

Now that you read through all of that, the burning question is probably “HOW easy is it?”

Well… in my world and how I operate as a crafter, I personally think it’s super easy straight out of the box. Hands down! Like I mentioned above, the new smart materials are ultimately a game-changer for me.

I’ve previously mentioned on Glued To My Crafts that I actually had one of the original Cricut machines back in the day, when you still had to buy several different cartridges to do anything {back in 2009 is when I bought my first machine for scrapbooking and card making.}

I’ve since then upgraded many times throughout the years and no matter how many times things have “improved” I was always annoyed with the various mats needed & having to measure things just right. Let’s just say, I’m a very impatient crafter and there were many moments of frustration and tears. Ultimately, I had a love/hate relationship with that green mat!

But now with the new smart materials, I won’t ever have to do that again. I literally just pick my design from Cricut Design Studio, load the material I need into the maker and hit the cut button. From there, the machine is “smart” enough to know if I don’t have enough space, if I need to more material etc. I see this feature quickly becoming my new favorite “thing” in world.

I also want to add that with the upgraded speed, this can reduce your cutting time and I can see that being a game-changer for those {like me} who may be short on time these days.
