Don’t be scared! Today’s latest post from Glued To My Crafts may have little monsters involved but the tutorial itself is NOT AT ALL SCARY! Have no fear – this Popsicle Stick Monster House kid craft tutorial is monstrously easy to recreate! We promise!!!

You can get this Halloween themed craft going, with just a few materials and steps!

Popsicle Stick Halloween Monster House

We want YOU and your child’s creativity to go wild this Halloween season, as you build a dream house for some little, fuzzy monster friends!

Today’s post is titled Popsicle Stick Monster House and we are going to “build” a haunted house from scratch, that ANY little monster will want to come home to! All it takes is a few supplies and steps!

Each little critter can come home to creepy or glamour, when you design a custom home for them out of popsicle sticks, craft paint and paper! With complete customization at your fingertips, you can be either be an inspiring home decorator and go all out on designing a craft stick monster house or keep it simple with just a few embellishments here & there. The choice is completely yours and there is honestly NO WRONG WAY on this Halloween DIY!

You can find the full how-to and a few tips on getting started on building a custom Halloween house for a monster. And oh – the fuzzy monster stickers I used are from Michael’s, in their seasonal kids craft section.

Popsicle Stick Monster House - Kid Craft Popsicle Stick Monster House - Kid Craft

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {three per monster house craft}
  • School Glue
  • Purple, Orange or Green Colored Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Purple, Orange or Green Patterned Scrapbook/Cardstock Paper
  • Black Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Gray Colored Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Halloween Stickers and Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and glue them together in a simple triangle formation.
  • Set it aside to allow it to dry a bit. Repeat for each monster house craft you want to create today.
  • When dry enough to touch, grab your popsicle stick shape, craft paint, paper plate and paint brush.
  • Squirt some craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Use the paint brush to paint one side of the popsicle stick triangle shape completely.
  • Again, set it aside to allow it to dry completely.
  • Now grab your sheets of cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a large triangle from either scrapbook paper or colored cardstock, that will fit inside the painted popsicle stick shape.
  • Out of the black cardstock, cut out a small witch hat for the roof.
  • Out of the gray cardstock, cut out a door and a rectangle piece for the chimney.
  • Out of the white cardstock, cut out a window for the witch hat roof.
  • Use the black Sharpie marker to give your paper pieces some dimension.
  • When ready – it’s time to assemble! Grab all your paper pieces, popsicle stick shape and school glue.
  • Start off my gluing the triangle paper piece to the back of the painted popsicle stick shape.
  • Follow that up with the “witch hat roof” on the top, front area of the popsicle stick shape.
  • Go ahead and add the window, door and chimney pieces.
  • Finally – add the Halloween stickers to the popsicle stick monster house shape {like an eyeball “door knob” and your monster sticker} to tie it all together.
  • Now allow it to dry completely before you display your craft stick monster house creation proudly in your home!

Tools:

  • School Glue
  • 1 Foam Paint Brush
  • 1 Small Paper Plate
  • 1 Scissors

Supplies:
