Paint Splat Halloween Town - Kid Craft

Paint Splatter Halloween Town Craft Idea

I’ve combined my favorite “paint splat” technique with a paper town cutout, during a eerie Halloween night!

This DIY craft idea mimics the town view YOU might see as you go out for trick-or-treating on Halloween night. I simply LOVE how every paint splat Halloween town piece will be different – just like the many views for everyone that night!

So what are you waiting for my dear friends?! Make this cool painted Halloween night scene with just some simple cardstock, Tulip puffy paint and a little crafty imagination. You can even mimic it against what you actually see around your area at night. Maybe even make it a “craft night party” and see what everyone comes up with!

Super simple to make and I hope it inspires YOU! Find all the details below!

Happy crafting, my friends!! Don’t forget to share pictures of your finished paint splat Halloween town creations on our Facebook page! I can’t wait to see how your night sky GLOWS! #gluedtomycrafts

Craft Supplies:

  • Gray Cardstock – one per craft
  • Black Cardstock – one per craft
  • Tulip Puffy Paint
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Basic Office Stapler
  • White Chalk or White Crayon
  • Baby Wipes for easy cleanup
  • Ghost Stickers or Cutouts
  • optional materials – loose craft glitter, sequins, rhinestones etc.

Directions:

  • Please make sure you have a good working area that can get dirty because paint may squeeze out of the sides of this craft!!!
  • First fold your gray cardstock paper in half {one paper per Halloween Town city skyline craft.}
  • Unfold and squirt some paint {two-three colors} on one side of the paper  {I like the Tulip Puffy Paint for this particular step since it’s in a nice controlled squirt bottle} Be sure to keep the paint inside the paper and not place too much down or the paper will get too wet.
  • Once the paint is down, go ahead and fold/squish your paper together again.
  • Be sure to rub your hand all over the folded piece, so the paint will cover your the inside nicely {paint WILL more than likely squeeze out the sides, so be sure to pay attention to that and clean up with baby wipes!}
  • Now carefully unfold your piece to reveal your colorful nighttime Halloween sky design inside.
  • Add glitter on top of the wet paint, if desired, before the paint dries completely.
  • Set it aside.
  • Next grab your black colored cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a skyline design {just squares and rectangles.}
  • Use the white chalk or crayon, to draw one some windows/doors on the various buildings you just made.
  • To finish the Paint Splat Halloween Town Skyline craft, staple your building scene to the top of the paint splat piece. This will give the look of the night sky in the background.
  • Go ahead and also glue on your ghost stickers and/or cutouts, anywhere you want.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display proudly for all to see!
