Paper Plate Sloth Scarecrow Craft Supplies:
- Paper Plate {large or small – one per sloth scarecrow craft}
- Orange Craft Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Kid Friendly Scissors
- Kraft Colored Cardstock
- White Cardstock
- Yellow Colored Cardstock
- Hand-Held Office Stapler
- School Glue
- Black Sharpie Marker
- optional embellishments – raffia ribbon, fall stickers
Directions:
- First things first – grab your paper plate, the orange craft paint and foam paint brush.
- Go ahead and paint the paper plate completely orange.
- Set it aside to allow it to dry a bit.
- Next, grab all the sheets of cardstock and the scissors.
- Out of the white, cut out a heart shape for the center of the sloth’s face.
- Follow that up by cutting out the eyes and a nose, as well as a large scarecrow farm hat for on top.
- Finally, to assemble the paper plate sloth scarecrow simply glue and staple on all your cardstock pieces in place on the paper plate.
- Finish off by drawing on a simple smile with the black Sharpie marker.
- Add other embellishments you see fit. I added a raffia ribbon bow-tie to the bottom of mine, as well as some fall stickers to the hat {both of which I picked up at Paper Source recently!} You can of course add more or as little as you like!
- Then set aside to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly for ALL to see!
Make It Your Own Today:
- Instead of the orange craft paint, swap it out for orange tissue paper instead! Simply cut up your orange tissue paper into small squares and glue it directly on the paper plate, for a fun textured & somewhat “furry” look.
- Don’t love our color choices? No worries! You won’t hurt my feelings {honestly} if you decide to change it up. I’m sure a bright yellow or even a light brown colored sloth would be perfect as a scarecrow!
