PAIR OUR JACK-O-LANTERN BALLOON CRAFT WITH —> Popsicle Stick Witch Truck
Craft Supplies:
- Small Paper Plate {one per hot air balloon craft}
- Foam Paint Brush
- Orange Craft Paint
- Free Owl Printable Template – grab it on box.com
- White Cardstock
- Color Printer
- Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
- Paper Craft Scissors
- Black Colored Cardstock Paper
- Brown Colored Cardstock Paper
- Single Hand Hole Punch
- Hand-Held Office Stapler
- School Glue or Glue Stick
- Yarn or Twine
- optional materials – Halloween stickers, glitter etc.
Directions:
- First things first – squirt some orange craft paint in the center of your small paper plate.
- Use the foam paint brush to move it around and color in the paper plate, so it’s completely orange.
- When done, set it aside to allow it to dry completely.
- Next up – print the owl body printable listed above in the supply list, on white cardstock. You only need ONE print per hot air balloon craft.
- Decorate and color in the owl shape however you like. From crayons to markers, let those creative juice flow!
- When done, trim out the owl shape and discard the excess paper.
- Now grab all your remaining sheets of colored cardstock and your scissors.
- Go ahead and cut out a small witch hat for your owl friend to wear.
- Secure that piece to your owl cutout.
- With the remaining black cardstock, cut out some jack-o-lantern facial pieces. Think triangles for the eyes, nose etc.
- Set all those pieces aside.
- Next, cut out a large basket shape for your hot air balloon from the brown paper. Make sure it’s slightly bigger than your owl shape from earlier {so she sits in there nicely!}
- With the remaining brown cardstock, cut out a simple rectangular stem for the pumpkin shape.
- Now you are ready to start assembling your hot air balloon craft.
- Grab all your paper pieces, including the painted paper plate from earlier.
- Take the hole punch and punch two holes in the paper plate AND the basket cutout, for where the strings will go.
- Go ahead and secure your decorated owl shape inside the paper basket, on the back side with either glue or a stapler.
- Cut TWO long strands of string {about 8 inches, give or take} making sure they are both the same length.
- Go ahead and thread your string through the holes you made in all your pieces, to tie together the hot air balloon {just make sure not to pull too tight or your paper pieces might rip}
- And that’s it! Add other embellishments you see fit.
- Then display your paper plate jack-o-lantern hot air balloon piece proudly for all to see!
- Don’t forget to snap a few pictures to share with us! #gluedtomycrafts
