Paper Halloween Kid Craft - Black Cat On Tree Branch

Black Cat On Tree Branch Craft

Today we are combining a few different elements to make this paper and wooden spoon Halloween kids craft idea come to life.

I originally was inspired by a post I saw on Instagram yesterday. Not sure if it’s their original idea but I decided to give it my own flair and share what I came up with, right here on Glued To My Crafts.

So drum roll please… here is our Halloween Black Cat On Tree Branch art project idea. Our black cat is sitting on a basic tree branch, staring out at a full moon. My favorite part {and if you see the vision} is the long cat tail that is the handle part of the wooden spoon. I then combined a few paper embellishments and a few felt stickers from Dollar Tree to complete the look.

Overall, this craft idea can be changed to reflect what you may or may not have on hand. It’s just a fun mixed media art project, that will really awaken those creative juices! So on that note, what are you waiting for?! This black cat on tree branch idea is PURR-FECT to make ANY DAY of the week, leading up to Halloween night. So will it make it on your to-do list this spook-tacular season? I sure hope so!

Happy crafting, my friends! When you do make our Halloween black cat art project, be sure to tag us on Facebook or use our special brand #gluedtomycrafts hashtag for us to see & share from!

  • Wooden Spoon {one per cat craft}
  • Black Craft Paint
  • White Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate

Directions:

  • First things first – set the scene for your black cat! Grab all your pieces of paper and scissors.
  • Cut out a tree branch, a big circular moon and a few leaves.
  • At this point in time, you should also cut out a small head for the black cat.
  • Set all those pieces aside.
  • Now the wooden spoon “cat body.” Grab the wooden spoon, paint and paint brush.
  • Squirt some craft paint on a paper plate.
  • Take your paint brush and paint the wooden spoon completely black. Add a few dots of white in there, for some dimension.
  • Set it aside to it dry a bit.
  • When ready – grab all your elements and the school glue.
  • Start off my gluing ALL the paper pieces on a single sheet of black cardstock.
  • Follow that up by gluing on the wooden spoon, so the cat is “sitting” on the tree branch.
  • Finish off the Halloween black cat craft by adding your own flair with stickers, fake spider webs and gold glitter.
