Dr. Seuss Inspired Green Egg Slime

Looking for something creative to make in honor of Dr Seuss Week? Check out our latest Green Egg Slime tutorial! It’s something sticky and outside the traditional!

Please help in mind, this slime recipe is NOT suitable for younger children since the slime itself is not edible and the green pom pom can be a choking hazard. Please ALWAYS supervise children during slime making and your crafty fun time together.

Unique Green Egg Slime For Dr. Seuss Week

In celebration of Read Across America next week AND Dr Seuss’ upcoming birthday – today I present to YOU our Green Eggs and Ham Inspired Slime Recipe post! It all started with a green plastic egg I found at my local Walmart store. The rest is HISTORY!

Not only is this sticky creation super easy to make this afternoon with a few simple supplies BUT this DIY craft also goes along perfectly with the beloved classic “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr Seuss.

“Do you like green eggs and ham?” asks Sam-I-am in this Beginner Book by Dr. Seuss. In a house or with a mouse? In a boat or with a goat? On a train or in a tree? Sam keeps asking persistently. With unmistakable characters and signature rhymes, Dr. Seuss’s beloved favorite has cemented its place as a children’s classic. In this most famous of cumulative tales, the list of places to enjoy green eggs and ham, and friends to enjoy them with, gets longer and longer. Follow Sam-I-am as he insists that this unusual treat is indeed a delectable snack to be savored everywhere and in every way.

Originally created by Dr. Seuss, Beginner Books encourage children to read all by themselves, with simple words and illustrations that give clues to their meaning.

So what are you waiting for? Be sure to “FRY” up this awesome craft and read the book with your child today! All the directions and supply list can be found below! Happy crafting my friends!

Dr Seuss Inspired Green Eggs and Ham Slime Tutorial

DIRECTIONS:

  • First things first – the plastic egg I found at Walmart had some small holes in it, so I went ahead and sealed them up with some hot glue. I believe super glue would work on this step as well. Just place a small amount of either, in and around the holes, so the slime won’t come out later on. Set those pieces aside.
  • Next up – grab your mixing bowl and mixing device. Pour out the entire contents of your bottle of Elmer’s School Glue into the bowl.
  • Next add in 1/4 cup of Elmer’s Magical Liquid slime solution into the bowl.
  • Mix everything together, until well incorporated. You will notice the mixture becoming harder to mix and the slime will begin to form.
  • Now take your slime out of the bowl and begin kneading the clay into the slime, with both of your hands. IT WILL BE STICKY! BUT AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE TO WORK IT AND KEEP PULLING IT FROM YOUR HANDS, IT WILL START TO FORM LIKE PLAYDOUGH. THIS TAKES A FEW MINUTES.
  • Once the slime mixture is the consistency you like, it’s time to play! Place your slime mixture inside the plastic green egg. Grab your large green pom pom and throw it on top.
  • Then play with your new slime creation and when done, house it in a jar to store for longer play.
