YOU GUYS! This is the best and EASIEST Valentine’s Day card box… ever! At least, that’s what my new foxy friend says!
Just take a look at the supplies and instructions below to learn how to make your own Fox Valentine’s Day Card Box with your child today!
Valentine Card Box Craft Idea
It all started with a trip to Michael’s and literally $5 later to make it happen! Say what?!
So if you are looking for a clever and super inexpensive card holding box for your child to take to school for Valentine’s Day next week, I really hope this quick DIY craft tutorial comes in handy for you!
All the supplies I used for my fox mail box are from the Valentine’s Day section at Michael’s, that are currently 40% off right now. The red cardboard box and the heart paper plates were both around $2 each with the discount. I seriously couldn’t beat the price {and don’t forget, the heart paper plates will go pretty far with all the tutorials I’ve been sharing this week!} If you can’t find a similar box, a large recycled tissue box or shoe box painted red would work too!
And oh – just because I used the red paper plate for the fox’s face, don’t feel limited by that either! You could easily substitute that element with a large craft foam heart, paper heart doily or even hand-drawn/cut your heart shaped fox face out of cardstock instead!
Ready to learn the how-to?! Find all the details below! Then take everything in, make a plan and make it your own! I know you can do it 🙂

Directions:
- First things first – the face of the fox. Grab ONE paper heart plate, the black/white cardstock, scissors, wiggle eyes and either a stapler or glue stick.
- Cut out TWO large triangle ears for the fox. Set aside.
- Next cut out TWO white sideburns and a black heart nose. Set aside.
- And although it’s not for the face, go ahead and also cut out a large bushy tail for the fox from the remaining cardstock. Set that aside.
- Now grab your cardstock ears, sideburns, nose and plastic wiggle eyes. Go ahead and staple/glue those to the paper plate. The ears go towards the top and the sideburns/nose towards the bottom of the plate. While the wiggle eyes go in the center of it all. Make sure everything is REALLY secure so no mishaps happen between traveling. This is why I suggest a stapler for the paper pieces.
- Next go ahead and get the glue gun hot and ready!
- Turn your paper box where the opening and lid will be facing you & it’s look like a body {see my images for an example.}
- With adult supervision, hot glue your decorated paper plate to the lid of the box, while hot gluing the tail to the back {again see our images for example!}
- Add other embellishments you see fit and for that custom look. Think glitter, stickers, maybe even your child’s name.
- Then display proudly and have people fill it with treats on the BIG day!

Customize It:
- You can’t go wrong with glitter glue, rhinestones and stickers! Just like I found my fox card box supplies at Michaels, be sure to head down their scrapbook aisle for things that are easy to add in a flash!
- Don’t forget you might also need to add your child’s name somewhere on the box as well. If you have a Cricut machine, this would be a great time to cut out some basic letter shapes to add on the side of the box for easy viewing.
