The Abominable Snowman can be scary but this latest craft tutorial from Glued To My Crafts is not! Check out our NEW tutorial and create your own Paint Splat Yeti Face piece with your child today! It’s a winter boredom buster that is super easy to recreate!!!
It’s our super popular and favorite “paint splat” technique incorporated into a holiday theme, inspired by the ape-like creature they call “yeti.”
PAINT SPLAT YETI CRAFT SUPPLIES:
To create my Yeti Themed Paint Splat Face, all I did was take some blue cardstock {one sheet per craft} and white & black Puffy Paint {affiliate link} {affiliate link} to make the “face” of the yeti. I also included some red cardstock, school glue and white cotton balls for the Santa hat that he is wearing.
You can of course substitute a few of the materials I used, for other items. I personally LOVE the Tulip brand puffy paint for these paint splat craft but regular white craft paint will work too.
THE SIMPLE DIRECTIONS:
The first step was to folding my blue cardstock in half and opening it back up. Then I grabbed my white puffy paint and squirted several squiggles of paint ON ONE SIDE of the blue cardstock, before closing it up again.
Once the paper was closed for the second time, I gently took my hand and “caressed” the white puffy paint inside the folded paper, so it made a fun symmetrical print design on both sides {please keep in mind – paint might ooze from the sides of the cardstock, so be sure to work in an area that can get dirty!}
Once I was done with the above step, I opened my folded paper back up and saw the BEGINNING of what my yeti’s face would eventually be. From here, I took the black puffy paint and drew on some eyes & a squiggly mouth, right on top of the paint splat.
Next up, I grabbed my red cardstock and cut out a large triangle piece. I then folded that newly cut triangle piece to make a Santa hat and secured it to the paint splat paper with some school glue.
Finally – the last step was adding the white cotton balls to the brim of the hat, which really gave it that festive feel.
When you are finished with your custom ABONIMABLE SNOWMAN ART masterpiece, set aside it to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly! And of course – repeat as many times as you like! No two pieces will be the same and I think that’s what makes it even more fun!
Didn’t that turn out super cute? If this is something you want to do with your child today, I say DO IT! Do it now! It’s honestly so much fun!!!
We also have a popsicle stick version of a yeti, that just went live this morning for you to check out as well! Maybe you could make it an entire day of YETI fun with a book, movie or themed snack!
Now let the crafty fun begin! Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your Paint Splat Yeti creations on our Facebook page! #gluedtomycrafts
