Have your child give someone they know, a little something handmade and tasty on Thanksgiving with our Kid Made Turkey Themed Chocolate Bar Gift Idea! #gluedtomycrafts
Everybody LOVES chocolate, right?! I mean hands down, if people had to choose a type of “sweet treat” to receive any time of year, they would probably tell you that it’s chocolate {but the good stuff – not the cheap chalky stuff!}
So if you and/or your child are looking for a little something to make as a tablescape party favor for your guests or just a small gift to give to someone on Thanksgiving, I hope our “Kid Made Turkey Themed Chocolate Party Favor” idea comes in handy for you!
It’s got some special personalized touches {mainly in the feather aspect} that will make it stand out from the traditional crowd. Afterall – we can’t just give a plain chocolate bar, just as is! That’s simply SILLY! We ALWAYS have to give it a crafty spin at Glued To My Crafts. But no worries because this “spin” won’t break the bank or take too long to accomplish! It’s perfect for younger children to recreate, as well!
Are you ready for the quick tutorial? Don’t blink because it’s super fast!
To complete this gift idea, all you need is some brown pre-packaged chocolate {I went with a Ritter Sport {affiliate link} kind but a large Hershey bar would work too!} some brown cardstock, red cardstock, orange cardstock, large craft feathers, medium sized wiggle eyes, pencil, scissors and some adhesive like a LOW TEMP hot glue gun {I repeat LOW TEMP glue gun!}
First I traced my son’s TWO hands on some brown cardstock with a pencil. Then I took the scissors and trimmed out the two handprints. With the remaining cardstock {the red and orange} I cut out a triangle nose and the waddle. You will need to repeat these steps for EACH chocolate bar you are making!
Now get the LOW temp glue gun or any other choice of adhesive ready. Simply hot glue the two handprints to the back of the chocolate to create the feathers. Then hot glue the wiggle eyes and other cardstock pieces to the front. I also hot glued some craft feathers to the handprints once they were in place on the back of the bar.
And that’s it. Really easy! And of course – you can add other things like bows, glitter, sequins – whatever. But this is the basic “recipe” for the gift idea! So what do you think?! I hope you like it and recreate it with your child today! Don’t forget to share pictures with us if you can :-)
