Who says gingerbread men are ONLY for Christmas?! We are thinking outside the box and letting those cookie-cutter friends out to play a little earlier than usual!
Check out our Mixed Media Halloween Gingerbread Man kid craft tutorial below! Then score the free printable to get you started, as well!
I had originally intended for this gingerbread man printable to be used for an upcoming Christmas post {stay tuned!} but after playing around with some “spooky” ideas in my head, I thought, “Hey, this would be great for Halloween as well!”
So to recreate this mixed media craft with your child today, you will of course need the FREE gingerbread man template found HERE. Just download it to your computer and print it in the comfort of your home, on simple white cardstock. You will need ONE gingerbread man printable per craft and you are welcome to print as many as you need!
From there – you can use my pictures in this blog post, for inspiration to make a zombie, vampire, mummy or even a one-eyed monster! The angles and possibilities are endless on this one and there are no real rules or “steps.” Just have fun decorating the cookie cutout however you like for a Halloween feel!
I used various mixed materials like colored cardstock, medical gauze, black glitter glue, buttons and eyeball stickers. My best suggestion is to raid your craft collection {and cupboards} for anything and everything that you could use to make this #cutenotscary friends come to life! Heck – even the recycled bin is a great place to start! If you don’t have anything on hand, I also suggest hitting up Dollar Tree for inexpensive materials to incorporate!
MAKE IT YOUR OWN – don’t forget you can also trim out your finishes pieces and turn them into party decorations or pretend play puppets by hot gluing popsicle sticks to the back of them!
We LOVE outside the box craft ideas and we want YOU to check out our Paper Pumpkin Carriage – Kid Craft Idea and Halloween Unicorn Craft w/free printable template posts!
You can also find us in our private Facebook group where we share ideas that DON’T quite make it on our website. Come join the fun in the community!
