It’s time for S’MORE crafty fun on Glued To My Crafts! Check out Wooden S’more Decor Craft idea below!
Today’s Wooden S’more Decor Craft idea is actually a play on our super popular {and original} Popsicle Stick Smore kid craft tutorial.
My son’s new second grade teacher has an outdoor/campers theme in her classroom and it got my crafty wheels spinning, that my original idea could be turned into a decor piece with ease {one for her in her classroom and later on, one for my craft room to celebrate Glued To My Crafts!}
So after a quick trip to my local Walmart store {yes – Walmart actually has a great selection on craft supplies!} I was able to pull this idea together within minutes and on a small budget. Would you believe that the “marshmallow” is actually a simple white canvas as the base?! YUP!
And rest assured – you can make this DIY idea in ANY size you like. You aren’t confined to the size of materials that I used for mine. Walmart just happened to have smaller wooden slats, so I rolled with it. I could easily see this being done in a larger scale as well!
So my dear readers, hopefully you are inspired to recreate this s’mores themed idea! Remember – it’s not just for teachers either! I think this adorable handmade piece would look great in your child’s bedroom as well. Remember – our craft tutorials are ALWAYS super easy for kids to make as well! ;-)
Happy crafting, my friends! #gluedtomycrafts
Wooden S’more Decor Craft Supplies:
- Wooden Slats – 2.8″ by 7.1″ size
- 6×6″ inch FLAT Blank White Canvas Panel
- Tan Craft Paint
- Paint Brush
- Paper Plate or Dish for the Paint
- Tulip Black Puffy Paint
- Hot Glue Gun
- Brown Craft Foam
- Scissors
- optional – small heart stickers, scrapbook stickers, ribbon for hanging
Directions:
- First things first, get your glue gun hot and ready. Push it aside.
- Next grab TWO wooden slacks, your tan craft paint, paper plate and the paint brush.
- Paint one side on each wooden slat, completely tan. These are the graham crackers of your craft. Set them aside to let them dry completely.
- Now grab your brown craft foam and scissors. Cut a rectangle shape to create the chocolate for the s’mores. You will want this piece to be slightly smaller than the wooden slats.
- Next hot glue the “chocolate” to the square white canvas (the canvas is your marshmallow.)
- Then follow that up by hot gluing the tan wood pieces {the graham crackers} to the top and bottom of the canvas, just like you are building smores.
- Finally take the black puffy paint and draw a face in the center of the white canvas. Add tiny heart stickers to the edges of the mouth to create cheeks.
- For extra dimension on the graham crackers, draw little dots on the wooden slats with the black puffy paint.
- To finalize the craft, add other embellishments you see fit. Like ribbon to the back, scrapbook stickers, glitter – whatever your crafty heart desires!
- Then display or gift away!
