Today’s Pom Pom Yarn Hedgehog Friend idea is actually something I came up with, to give my son “something” to play with this summer.
My son loves all his stuffed animals and just like I thought – he loved when I made him this adorable hedgehog creature as well. I think it was extra special to him because he got to see me “make” it come to life, right in front of him as well.
Another thing my son loves? He loves how small it is and that it’s just the perfect size for his hands. He likes tossing the yarn hedgehog around {gently} but also being able to snuggle with it, with ease. Currently it’s sitting on our shelf “watching” us and I just love seeing my son’s imagination come to life, when he does pick it up to play with.
Best part for me? It only cost me maybe $2 {with left over tan colored yarn to spare} to create the hedgehog. With the cheapness of the craft and the fact that I got some craftime in as well – I say it’s a WIN WIN for EVERYONE!!
BTW – I absolutely LOVE my pom pom maker {affiliate link} and I hope we inspire YOU to get one too!!!
So gather those craft supplies and make a WHOLE family of hedgehogs of these today! Happy crafting, my friends!!!
Pom Pom Yarn Hedgehog Craft Supplies:
* Pom Pom Maker {affiliate link}
* Tan Yarn
* Scissors
* Tacky Glue or Hot Glue Gun
* Brown Craft Felt
* Medium Sized Wiggle Eyes
* Small Rhinestones
Directions:
* Follow the directions that came with your pom pom maker {this usually involves just wrapping the yarn several times and then cutting it} Make ONE large yarn pom pom per hedgehog. This is the body of the hedgehog. Set aside.
* Now grab your brown craft felt. Cut out a simple medium sized triangle for the face of the hedgehog.
* Glue on the wiggle eyes and rhinestone nose to the felt piece.
* Next – use the tacky glue or glue gun, to adhere that decorated felt piece to the yarn pom pom.
* Then add other embellishments to your Pom Pom Hedgehog that you see fit {like adding a bow to make it girl} before displaying/playing with proudly!!!
Last year I also used my pom pom maker to create a pumpkin decor piece. Check out that post if you are looking for another way to use this awesome device with your child today!
