This Washi Tape Uncle Sam Hat kid craft idea is super easy for the young ones in your home to recreate! Plus we have a free printable to get you started! #gluedtomycrafts
Over the weekend the crafty wheels in my head were spinning to make an “uncle sam” themed craft for the Glued To My Crafts blog archives. I wanted something fresh and new for the 4th of July holiday that is creeping up super fast!
When I came up with this patriotic themed idea, I had young kids in mind for this DIY but of course – it’s great for ALL ages! Even adults if they want to join in.
Plus we have a free printable {found below} to get you started in the right direction BUT you can of course substitute that out if you want. Just use blue cardstock from your stash instead!
Find all the details below. Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures with us! #gluedtomycraftsinspiresyou
Washi Tape Uncle Sam Hat Craft Supplies:
- Free Uncle Sam Hat Printable Template {download HERE}
- Color Printer
- 8 x 11.5″ White Cardstock {two sheets per craft}
- Red Patterned Washi Tape
- Basic Paper Craft Scissors
- Glue Stick or School Glue
Directions:
- First things first – print the free “hat rim” template above, in color, on a simple sheet of white cardstock. Print ONE per craft. Set it aside.
- Next grab your second sheet of white cardstock and red washi tape.
- Tear off long stripes of washi tape and place them on the white cardstock, in lines to create the stripes in Uncle Sam’s hat. Once done, set aside.
- Next up – grab the printable again. Cut out the blue rectangle with scissors.
- Now grab your finished washi tape piece. Glue on the blue rectangle to the bottom of the cardstock piece.
- And that’s it! Add other embellishments you see fit {like maybe some fun star stickers or glitter} and display proudly!
Make it your own:
Can’t print our awesome printable? NO WORRIES! We still have YOU covered so you can recreate this craft!
Just skip the printing step above and just grab BLUE CARDSTOCK to trim down into a rectangle, for the rim of the hat instead. Then star stickers for a fun patriotic feel and look!
And don’t let the fun stop here! You can also use the basic foundation of this craft tutorial to make a patriotic flag instead! Just use a “blue” handprint cutout for the corner of the flag and use the remaining washi tape from your Uncle Sam craft.
