Construction Slime Made With Clay & Gravel Rock
Please help in mind, this slime recipe is NOT suitable for younger children since the gravel can be a choking hazard, as well as the slime itself. Please always supervise children during slime making.
Recently I saw on the Michael’s Facebook page, that you could mix in your homemade slime, Crayola Model Magic Clay, to make a fun, new texture and bright fun colors!
So of course – I was inspired by this and went to my local store to gather my supplies.
When I was standing in front of ALL the colors they had to offer in this magic clay, the GRAY one stood out the most to me {the boy mom in me was screaming!} From there, the wheels were spinning and I instantly thought “construction slime.”
So after grabbing some small black gravel from the floral department AND snagging some of my son’s small construction truck toys we already had at home, it came together nicely for some fun! Now on that note, I hope you are inspired to give this new construction slime tutorial a try too!
Happy crafting and slime making, my friends! I’ll let you get to it now! #gluedtomycrafts

SLIME MATERIALS:
- 1/4 cup Elmer’s Magical Liquid
- 1 {4 fl oz} Elmer’s White School Glue
- Gray Crayola Clay Model Magic
- Decorative Gravel
- 1 Bowl to mix your construction slime in
- 1/4 measuring cup
- Mixing Utensil
- Jar with Lid for storing {mason jars are great for this!}
Adult supervision is ALWAYS required when making slime. This project is NOT appropriate for children under the age of three. Thoroughly wash your hands before and after making and playing with slime. Please also wear clothes that can get messy.
DIRECTIONS:
- First grab your mixing bowl and mixing device. Pour out the entire contents of your bottle of Elmer’s School Glue into the bowl.
- Next add in 1/4 cup of Elmer’s Magical Liquid slime solution into the bowl.
- Mix everything together, until well incorporated. You will notice the mixture becoming harder to mix and the slime will begin to form.
- At this point in time, add in your gray clay {add as much or as little, as you like!} We used about a 2-inch ball for ours. The more you add, the darker the color will be.
- Now take your slime out of the bowl and begin kneading the clay into the slime, with both of your hands. IT WILL BE STICKY! BUT AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE TO WORK IT AND KEEP PULLING IT FROM YOUR HANDS, IT WILL START TO FORM LIKE PLAYDOUGH. THIS TAKES A FEW MINUTES.
- Once the slime mixture is the consistency you like, it’s time to play! Grab a handful of gravel and throw it into the slime to incorporate it.
- Then play with your new construction slime creation and when done, house it in a jar to store for longer play.
