DIY Button Flag Wooden Frame – Craft Idea For 4th of July

Hi friends!!! I’m so glad you decided to click on over to our DIY Button Flag Wooden Frame tutorial today!

If you haven’t seen them, you are missing out! Michaels and Walmart have some super inexpensive wooden frames in their craft aisles, that are simply perfect for DIY decor projects {we have used them to make pineapples and unicorns before on Glued To My Crafts!}

These frames aren’t elaborate {hence why they are cheap} but with the flat surface being able to take on nearly anything, you are sure to make custom pieces within minutes!

Take for example today’s patriotic Button Flag Wooden Frame idea. Would you believe that this craft only took me less than $10 to pull together? And with just an hour of my time, I made a flag themed piece that I’m proud to show off every day in my home!

So whether for a patriotic holiday, home decor or in my case, to show off my lovely military family – this DIY is super easy to recreate and sure to be fun as well!

PAIR YOUR BUTTON FLAG FRAME WITH —> Paper Plate Flag – Patriotic Kid Craft Idea

Button Flag Frame Supplies:

* Large Square Wood Frame – one per craft {Michaels or Walmart}
* Red/White/Blue Craft Buttons {small buttons work best for this DIY!}
* Glue Gun or Thick Tacky Glue

Directions:

* The steps are easy but it takes some patience!
* First envision a flag on your frame. Maybe even draw light pencil marks so you see it better.
* Then working in sections {I suggest starting with the blue area first} start gluing down your buttons on the frame, in rows. My big suggestion is just put lines of glue/buttons down and then come back later to fill in any blank spots with another layer of buttons on top. Don’t worry about filling in each little space, in at first. The more layers of buttons you are put on, the fuller it will look down the road. Remember – it doesn’t need to be completely covered either! You are not going to be able to fill in each spot/corner because of the shape/size of your buttons. A little space is ok :- )
* Another big suggestion I have, is to work in stages so you don’t get overwhelmed. I first did the blue section, walked away and then came back for the red and then the white. It’s ok to be a slow crafter on this step!!!
* And finally – remember to let your Button Flag Frame dry completely, in a flat undisturbed away, when it’s completely covered & done. * Then place a beautiful picture inside and display proudly!!!
