Transform some ordinary and simple wooden slice pieces from Michaels, into Spring Inspired Gift Tags!!
Perfect for ANY day of the season and any level of craft skill you may have. Although I push this as a kid craft tutorial, parents shouldn’t feel left out! You too can make some customizable gift tags right along with your child, as well!
With just a few painted fingerprints on each tag, you can give the look of an Easter bunny or spring chicks within minutes! Then add to your gifts for a custom look and feel!
But don’t let the fun stop there! This DIY can also be transformed into magnets, ornaments or even just a display piece. We are just setting up the framework {like we always try to do on Glued To My Crafts} and we hope you run with the idea! #gluedtomycrafts
To recreate either type of tag, you will need some flat unfinished wooden slices {I found mine in the wood craft aisles of Michaels} These can be ANY size you might find. You can also use different types of wood circles if you can’t find the same type as I did.
You will also need various colors of craft paint, small paint brushes, scissors, hot glue gun, small pom poms and ribbon/twine for the back of each gift tag. Don’t forget some baby wipes for easy finger cleanup!
For the Thumbprint Baby Chick Gift Tag – you will want to make ONE yellow thumbprint in the center of the wooden piece {just dip in your thumb in some yellow paint and press onto the center of the wood slice} Clean off excess paint with baby wipes. Set aside your wood slice to let it dry.
Then using a small, tiny paint brush, draw on some black eyes and an orange nose/legs from there. That’s it!
For the Thumbprint Bunny Gift Tag – you will want to make TWO white thumbprints in the center of the wood slice, one on top of the other. One will be for the body of the bunny and the other for the head. Once done, draw on TWO white ears and hot glue a pink pom pom to the “butt” of the bunny. Draw on some tiny black whiskers coming from the head. For added flair, paint on some grass around the decorated thumbprint, so it looks like the bunny is hiding.
To finish both and turn them into gift tags – cut off a long piece of twine/ribbon to make your piece easily attachable to your gifts {or make it into an ornament!}
Finally, finish off your Spring Inspired Gift Tag by hot gluing your ribbon/twine to the back of the finished wood slice.
Then set aside again to let it dry completely before gifting away proudly!!!
