“Old MacDonald had a farm! Ee-I-Ee-I-O!”
Inspired by the classic {and honestly never ending, stuck in your head, forever song} today I present to YOU our personal favorite Mixed Media Popsicle Stick Barn kid craft idea!
Perfect for younger children to recreate with the help of parents! Keep scrolling for the full tutorial of this barn craft idea! #gluedtomycraftsinspiresyou
Mixed Media Popsicle Stick Barn – Old MacDonald Kid Craft
So I admit it. The title of this post is a bit of a “mouth full.” But I can promise you this, the tutorial and the craft itself is NOT that much effort. You will put more effort into saying the blog post title, then the actual craft 😉
Like I mentioned above, this popsicle stick barn craft is the perfect DIY for younger children in the home {and classroom} to accomplish with minimal help from an adult. The only step that “might” be tricky is getting the raffia – aka hay- to stick to the paper. If you do run into trouble with this step OR need a good alternative, use brown cardstock cut into small, thin strips instead. Other than that – it’s super EASY to accomplish!
Happy crafting, my friends! And don’t forget to pair this idea with some farm themed books for story time AND craft time! We also want to see pictures so don’t forget to use our special brand hashtag #gluedtomycrafts on Instagram so we can see your finished creations in action!

Popsicle Stick Barn Craft Supplies:
- Six Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {per barn craft}
- Colored Cardstock Paper {we used RED}
- School Glue
- Raffia/Straw {similar on Amazon}
- Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
- Markers or Crayons
- Farm Animal Stickers {similar on Amazon}
Directions:
- First things first – glue your SIX JUMBO POPSICLE STICKS into a barn formation, in the center of the cardstock. I started with the triangle towards the top, then made the square on the bottom.
- Now take your marker and draw on some embellishments to make it look like a barn.
- Next grab your raffia or straw. Cut it down in size if you need to.
- Put a good layer of glue towards the bottom of the barn.
- Lay the raffia/straw on top of the glue until it stays in place.
- Finish off the Popsicle Stick Barn craft by adding on the farm stickers all around.
- Then set aside to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly!
