THE LION CRAFT SUPPLIES:
To recreate this Paint Splat Lion Friend, the basic materials are white cardstock and yellow/orange Puffy Paint {affiliate link on Amazon} to make the “mane/fur” of the lion. You will also need yellow cardstock, scissors, a marker and a pair of wiggle eyes per lion craft. Loose craft glitter is also an option if you are into that 😉
You can also do this particular paint splat tutorial with our FREE LION HEAD TEMPLATE from our CHALK ART LION tutorial! The choice is yours!
You can find ALL our favorite craft supplies via our AMAZON SHOP link!
THE DIRECTIONS:
The first step is to fold your white cardstock in half, open back up and squirt your two paint colors ON ONE SIDE before closing it up again.
Once the paper is closed for the second time, gently take your hand and “caress” the yellow/orange paint around inside, so it makes a fun symmetrical print design on both sides of the paper {keep in mind – paint might ooze from the sides of the cardstock, so be sure to work in an area that can get dirty!}
Now you are ready to open it back up and see the BEGINNING of what your lion’s head will eventually be. From there you decorate it to bring it to life and give it that LION look.
So next up, grab some tan cardstock and your scissors. Cut out a simple circular head and half moon circle ears for the lion. Decorate it with embellishments so he can see. Glue it to the center of your newly made paint splat piece.
Then – if desired – you can also take random scrapbook paper pieces, glitter, glitter glue, rhinestones etc. – whatever you want to bring it to life in a custom form. Maybe you want a bowtie? Or maybe you just want to add some sparkle? Go for it!
Once finished with your custom lion masterpiece, then set aside to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly! And of course – repeat as many times as you like! No two pieces will be the same and I think that’s what makes it even more fun!
