Today’s Movie Night Snack Hack is nothing special or even something “new.”
It’s just an idea I thought I would share with my lovely Glued To My Crafts readers, in case they need a HACK-WIN that is kid friendly and perfect for the upcoming weekend. #gluedtomycrafts
In our house, we do A LOT of family movie nights at home {we are true homebodies} so this is an idea I recently came up with for my family. Mainly I thought of it to make things extra special and “fun” for my seven year old son.
Basically you take some inexpensive yarn/string and some yummy snacks with “holes” & string them together to make a snack necklace. That’s it! Nothing really elaborate to it.
Then, when you are ready for the movie night, eat your necklace. Point blank. Well…don’t eat the string. I repeat – DON’T EAT THE STRING. Eat the snacks on the string and discard the empty string afterwards! {please also ALWAYS supervise children of ALL ages with this hack!}
For this movie night hack, what I like to do for my little man, is set up a little buffet of snacks in the kitchen and tell him ten, maybe up to twenty, “you can pick whatever you want for your necklace.” Then he can count {throw in some learning} and he have some freedom to make his own choices {I think he likes this step the most since most of the time, I’m very much “you will eat this, not this.”}
And that’s basically it! Again, not rocket science or anything new to the world BUT I hope maybe it can spark something in your home today! It’s just a quick hack for kids {and adults} to make movie night extra fun.
Plus it can be beyond movie night! Think at the playground, picnics, road trips, etc!
Best part? No extra dishes for moms to fret over nor will there be fighting of “you got more than me!” Since everyone in the family gets their own necklaces, the snacks are equally divided and once you eat your necklace, well…you ate your share! It’s an easy portion control idea!
And just for fun – for our snack necklace in this picture we used gummy lifesavers, chocolate pretzels and regular pretzels. All of which are super easy to find. You can also do this idea with cheerios, honeycomb cereal – anything that has a hole in the center! In fact, maybe even mini donuts would work!
