Hi my crafty friends! I wanted to share with you all today, this REALLY quick way to turn white plastic eggs {I found mine at Target} into beautiful unicorns eggs within MINUTES! Then you can use them for an Easter egg hunt {if you use some good adhesive} or use them as decorations in your home this time of year.
This unicorn themed idea would also work with those white decorative craft eggs you might see this time of year as well {Michaels has these!} These types of eggs don’t have seams in the center of them and have a more heavier feel feel to them. They are more for decoration than anything else. Maybe some pretend play, if you choose your adhesive wisely ;-)
You can recreate these magical pieces too! #gluedtomycrafts
Although I would love to share a full tutorial today on Glued To My Crafts, I’m just going to leave these THREE simple steps right here.
All I did was tie off some pink needling thread together for the unicorn hair {lay several strands in a bunch and then tie them all together, in the center, with a single piece of string. Use scissors to trim it down/make it pretty from there}
Along with my newly made hair for each egg piece, I hot glued a single, small triangle unicorn horn from gold glitter craft foam to the top of my eggs.
Then I followed that up by drawing on some black Sharpie eyelashes and a nose to the center of the plastic egg.
And that was it! Seriously – it’s so simple!
I can’t say it enough – it’s easy peasy to recreate and of course, you can change up the steps to fit your needs and desires. Maybe instead of pink hair, use various shades of thread for a rainbow look. Maybe skip the thread and use paper flower stickers instead? You can also use a thin tip paint brush and craft paint instead of markers for the eyelashes. So many ways – I’m just opening the crafty box in our DIY post!
My only suggestion is, if you are using these pieces for an egg hunt or in an child’s Easter basket, be sure to use some super glue for your adhesive instead {no kids for this step – adults only!} to make sure it all stays in place. Hot glue is perfect for pieces that won’t be moving around much and if they stay indoors. Just an FYI so you can plan accordingly.
