Paper Doily Donut Card – DIY Craft Idea For Valentine’s Day
The last few doily themed crafts on Glued To My Crafts, has been focused around the “heart shaped” paper doilies you typically see for sale in the Valentine’s Day aisle. However, today we are changing things up and going with a more traditional circular doily, that are actually easier to find at craft stores these days {least in my experience this year!}
So let’s get to it! I’m going to show YOU how easy it is to use a circular paper doily as our “frosting” for our handmade donut card, so you will have an awesome sweet donut paper valentine that the ANY lucky receiver will love to open up on Valentine’s Day! Whether you give it away at party, in the classroom or in the mail, I just know you are going to feel super proud of your donut creations!

Donut Card Craft Supplies:
- Circular Paper Doilies – one per donut card {any color you like!}
- Colored Cardstock {light brown, yellow and white is what I used}
- Craft Adhesive {like a adhesive tape runner}
- Scissors/Paper Trimmer
- Glitter Glue
Directions:
Now I normally do these card crafts in a different step-by-step order but since everyone’s paper doily donut could potentially be a different size from mine, I suggest working a bit backwards on this craft! Don’t make your card shape until your donut is done first. Then trim out!
- So on that note, first things first – take your circular paper doily and slightly fold it in half to trim out a circular center for the donut. Discard the inner piece.
- Use adhesive to adhere your paper doily to the center of a single sheet of light brown cardstock.
- Now cut out a circle around the adhered paper doily.
- Once cut out, again, fold it slightly in half and cut out a inner circle again. This piece should look like a donut now.
- Next grab your white cardstock. Adhere your newly made donut to it.
- Now the final step – take your paper trimmer and NOW trim down your card to create the card. The size of yours may depend on how big you made your donut. Because of the odd shape of your card, I do suggest either gifting as is or making your own card {Pinterest would be my go-to place to learn how to make an envelope!}
- Add other embellishments you see fit, like paper scrap strips cut up for the sprinkles and tons of glitter glue.
- Finally – it’s time to give away your Paper Doily Donut Cards!
