Have you guys seen the “rock painting” craze that is going on right now?
This craft idea has GROWN in so many ways, there’s even the Kindness Rock Project that has really taken off too!
It’s just amazing how one little simple hobby idea can literally grow overnight and move so many people.
Anyways…. I don’t exactly have a full tutorial for my personal Florida Painted Rocks BUT I wanted to share some images to “maybe” spark some inspiration within YOU, so you can take the steps to recreate your own {in whatever state or location you are!}
How To Make These Awesome Florida Rocks:
To recreate, you will obviously first need the rocks. Any size will do but I’ve noticed a craft store is probably the best place to get larger rocks, without having to buy a huge bag at Lowes or Home Depot. Another thing to notice is, the flatter the rock is, the better.
Then you need your state cutout from paper. I got my Florida paper punch from my local Joanns store {affiliate link to Amazon} but you can even cut out your state using a Cricut or Silhouette machine. Just make sure it will fit on your rock. You can of course, change up this step as well!
To attach my state cutout to the rock, I simply used mod podge on top of the paper and made sure I put a couple good layers to really protect it.
Then for my finishing touches, I used craft paint {Tulip Puffy Paint to be exact!} and wrote Tampa and FL so people knew where the rock was from. I really wanted a personal connection to mine.
And that’s it! Easy peasy – right?! Then you can join various “rock groups” in your area and leave them for people to find! It’s a great way to spread some crafty kindness and connect with people in your area – which I absolutely love the most!
Be sure to also check out our previous Watermelon Rocks tutorial for another way to make this project grow! And if you can – please share pictures of your painted rocks with us on our Facebook page, so we can see them from afar as well! #gluedtomycrafts
