Make something unique and different for the upcoming Day of the Dead holiday with today’s Craft Foam Sugar Skull kid craft idea! #gluedtomycrafts
Recently I picked up some basic craft foam skull shapes from my local Michaels store and was inspired to make some decorative Día de los Muertos inspired sugar skull pieces out of them.
Using supplies I already had on hand {like thin-tipped markers, colorful cardstock and glitter glue} I was able to make some custom and one-of-a-kind pieces within minutes!
You can do the same and I promise it’s not hard either! Even the kids can get involved in the making of this DIY idea!
Then you decorate your home with your finished masterpieces or turn them into festive puppets by gluing popsicle sticks to the back of your pieces – so many clever ideas!
With no real rules {ok just one rule – have fun!} all you need to do is raid your supply closet for paper punches, cardstock, glitter, rhinestones etc and decorate the “face” of the craft foam skull however you like! Scallop paper punches are great for the eyes and markers are perfect for little embellishments like “dots” on the forehead. You can easily google examples of “sugar skulls” for inspiration but of course – you can go ANY direction you like!
So the next time you hit up your local Michaels store, be sure to grab a pack of craft foam skulls from the Halloween aisle to make today’s Day of the Dead inspired craft! Be sure to also share on your social media sites with the hashtag #gluedtomycrafts so we all can see that inspiration come to life {cause seriously, it’s makes my day!}
You can also check out Paper Plate Skull tutorial for another “skull themed” crafty idea! Happy crafting, my friends!!! Please don’t forget to share pictures of your finished decorated sugar skulls on our Facebook page, for us to admire!
