Summer break is in full swing in our house and I’m trying my best to keep lil man entertained as best I can.
I never “realized” how clingy he was until recently and like most kids, every little detail and observation by him needs to be told to me over and over again. I’m not sure how many times I have heard “look” in the past week, as well as the phrase “Mama you see me?!”
And although we have watched “Trolls” so many times in the past month, he still has to point out each funny section to me like I’ve never seen it before.
I know I’m going to miss these moments in the future {maybe it’s this small apartment living that I really won’t miss} but my patience is running thin these days…I’m sure you can relate – right? I’m definitely one of those parents that will be happy when school starts back up again ;-)
Anyways – one of the ways I’m trying to break the summer blues with is craft time. No surprise there, right?
I’ve been trying my best to think outside the box and that’s how I recently came up with this Lasagna Noodle Caterpillar kid craft idea.
Similar to our Pasta Noodle Airplane idea – we used dried lasagna noodles {from the same box as before so it’s a $1 well spent!} to make some critter friends. It was actually pretty fun and I liked how I didn’t really need to hold his hand on the steps. We used puffy paint bottles and he loved the independence of that. Plus the end-result texture is pretty cool.
Long story short – I hope you are inspired by this “outside the box” idea as well! Remember – you can also take this idea so many directions as well! Like using markers instead of paint or gluing cardstock shapes on top of the noodles for a different approach. I like sharing open-ended ideas with you all and I hope you run with it!
Happy crafting, my friends! #gluedtomycrafts
Lasagna Noodle Caterpillar Supplies:
* Dried Lasagna Noodles {one per caterpillar craft}
* Puffy Paint {or any craft paint}
* Colored Cardstock
* Kid Friendly Paper Scissors
* School Glue
* Small Wiggle Eyes
Directions:
* First have children decorate their lasagna noodle however they like. This will be the body of the caterpillar.
* While they are working on that, cut out a circular head with antennas from the cardstock, for each caterpillar.
* To finish off the Lasagna Noodle Caterpillar, have children glue on the cardstock head, as well as some wiggle eyes, to the noodle body.
* Then set aside in an undisturbed area to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly!
These craft memories will be treasured forever!
