Plastic Easter Egg Lunch Idea For Young Children
If you have been following my blog for awhile now, you probably have noticed that I kinda like to make a big deal out of the holidays.
Whether making tons of kids crafts centered around the time of year or just dressing up some sweet treats for friends in my own creative way – I just like to make things extra special and memorable.
So for Easter this year, I have BIG plans for my Lil Man. He’s finally starting to grasp the concept on a lot of things and I’m going to cash in on all the great ideas I have been collecting in my head for awhile now. Starting with this Easter Egg Lunch Idea.
Today’s tutorial is basically a bento style lunch idea but we are reusing items we probably would have thrown away anyways. It’s just a great way to make lunch extra special with no special tools or skills and only for a few cents. Plus you are recycling – that’s pretty awesome in itself! #gluedtomycrafts
Plastic eggs are pretty much everywhere this time of year and your child is bound to pick up a few {or a mountain of them} as Easter draws closer. Some might think these eggs are pesky and useless & toss them as soon as they get them but you might want to rethink that and save them for this idea.
Whether for a fun picnic or just sending a packed lunch with your child to school, this Easter Egg Lunch Idea is sure to bring a smile to your child’s face as they open up each egg container to reveal the food inside. Then once all the food is gone, they bring it back home and you can do it all over again!
For this fun Easter themed snack idea, all you need is some small finger foods that will fit in your hand-washed plastic eggs and of course, a recycled egg carton to hold them for transportation. Then just fill your plastic eggs up with your goodies, close them and place in the egg carton for storage till meal time.
Some great ideas for finger foods are:
* fresh fruit like blueberries, strawberries, apple chunks, grapes, clementine slices
* veggies like broccoli, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms
* string cheese cut into chunks
* lunch meat like pepperoni or turkey, chicken fingers cut into chunks
* small crackers, goldfish, granola bar chunks, cereal, nuts
These items don’t need to be elaborate either. Just raid your fridge/pantry and get creative with placing the items in the eggs. All it might take is some cutting to get it to all fit!
So what are you waiting for? Make lunch fun and memorable by surprising your child {or spouse} this upcoming holiday with this Plastic Easter Egg Lunch Idea. Better yet – surprise them all year long with it. I’m sure it will be a big hit no matter what time of the year!
