Homemade Cotton Candy Scented Easter Playdough Recipe
Last week my son was pretty sick from a yucky stomach bug {it was awful!} He was feeling pretty miserable and so was I because I just wanted to make it all go away. So when he finally started to feel like himself again and asked for playdough, I knew I had to make it happen.
So I pulled out all the supplies and followed our trusty recipe to create this beautiful colored Cotton Candy scented Playdough that is absolutely perfect for the upcoming Easter holiday. My son was on cloud nine with the end result and I was pretty happy to see that smile again.
This Cotton Candy Easter Playdough recipe has a great smell, nice texture AND it’s a no cook version. You can literally make it in minutes and have the kids help out in the making too! And that amazing smell? It’s created with a simple pack of Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Flavor Mix. It smells pretty good and adds a nice festive touch to the mix too!
So what are you waiting for? Grab those playdough making supplies, some cookie cutters and get to work! Happy creating my friends!
Cotton Candy Easter Playdough
Supplies:
* 2 cups flour
* 1 1/2 cups boiling water
* 1/2 cup salt
* 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* One package of Duncan Hines Frosting Creations – Cotton Candy
optional – glitter
Directions:
* In a large mixing bowl – combine your flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil.
* Measure out your hot water and add in your Duncan Hines Frosting Creations pack. Then carefully stir in the hot water mixture to the flour mixture. {Should ONLY be done by adults}
* Then start stirring with a cooking spoon until the dough starts getting sticky/cools down a bit.
*Once cool enough to handle – knead until it’s a smooth playdough consistency. Then play!
Store playdough in air tight container when not using and of course – although this recipe smells amazing, it’s just for pretend. {sides that – it tastes gross when ingested} Please always supervise children while they play. If your dough is too sticky, add some more flour and knead through, until you get consistency you like.

As a preschool teacher who has been using this recipe for nearly 18 years I can tell you that I have used only 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar with complete success. Cream of tartar is $7.00 a bottle where I live so I don’t like to waste it. Hope this helps.
