Strawberry Shortcake Valentine Playdough
Did you catch my Valentine Scented Sensory Bin post the other day?
Well – continuing on with the theme of Valentine’s Day and things that smell really yummy – today I’m sharing this Strawberry Shortcake Valentine Playdough recipe. My son always gets excited when I start making some homemade playdough and this one was just as loved as our past creations.
This Strawberry Shortcake Valentine Playdough recipe has a great smell, nice texture AND it’s a no cook recipe. You can literally make it in minutes! And that amazing smell? It’s created with a simple pack of Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Flavor Mix. It’s less than a $1.00 at Walmart {found in the baking aisle} and really adds a festive touch to the mix!
So what are you waiting for? Grab the playdough supplies, some cookie cutters and get to work! This is a MUST-DO activity in honor of the “lovestruck” holiday!
Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your Valentine’s Day inspired playdough being played with, on our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this recipe! #gluedtomycrafts

Valentine Playdough Recipe
Craft Supplies:
* 2 cups flour
* 1 1/2 cups boiling water
* 1/2 cup salt
* 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* Glitter {I used about 2 tablespoons – add more/less as you feel like}
* One package of Duncan Hines Frosting Creations – Strawberry Shortcake Flavor
Directions:
* In a large mixing bowl – combine your flour, salt, cream of tartar, glitter and oil.
* Measure out your hot water and add in your Duncan Hines Frosting Creations pack. Then carefully stir in the hot water mixture to the flour mixture. {Should ONLY be done by adults}
* Then start stirring with a cooking spoon until the dough starts getting sticky/cools down a bit.
*Once cool enough to handle – knead until it’s a smooth playdough consistency. Then play!
Store playdough in air tight container when not using and of course – although this recipe smells amazing, it’s just for pretend. {sides that – it tastes gross when ingested} Please always supervise children while they play. If your dough is too sticky, add some more flour and knead through, until you get consistency you like.

I’m glad you like it. Unfortunately it is not the bake-able or dry-able kind. You are looking for a more salt-based dough.

Thank you for this concept, it’s perfect 😀 Is this bake-able or dry-able for making ornaments?
