Button Covered Picture Frame Wreath

Button Covered Picture Frame Wreath - DIY Christmas Craft

Picture Frame Wreath Made With Buttons

Halloween is over so it’s time to start thinking about Christmas, right? Well – I’m not saying you need to drag out the Christmas tree just yet BUT you do need to drag out the craft supplies and start thinking about your winter decor. You don’t want to be scrambling last minute to get everything perfect – do you?

One of the first things I like to change out with the holidays, is our front door wreath. And since I’m all about being “crafty” I like to make handmade wreaths to represent “us.” But of course – it has to be a simple DIY and on a budget.

Recently I turned an ordinary wood frame {yes you read that right – a picture FRAME!} into a beautiful, one of a kind winter themed wreath and you won’t believe how SIMPLE it was to pull together.

I even got my son involved in the making in my custom picture frame wreath creation and we made a full afternoon out of it. I have a feeling this wreath will be making its appearance on our front door, for years to come!

Keep scrolling to see all the details and step-by-step instructions! Happy crafting, my friends!!! Please don’t forget to give us a FOLLOW on Facebook, so you never miss a new tutorial from us! #gluedtomycrafts

Directions:

  • Depending on the look you want, you can paint your wood frame first. I wanted a more natural look, so I left the frame bare. Whether you decide to paint or not – glue down and cover your frame completely in buttons. No space would be left blank. {this is great for kids to help with!}
  • Once your frame is completely covered, hot glue some ribbon to the back for easy hanging of the wreath.
  • Next I took my decorative twig branch and bent the wire to hang over the frame {the picture above explains it better and you might even have a better solution than I did}
  • To finish the frame, I added the decorative metal star and big bow to the center. Then I hung my new wreath on our door to be displayed proudly.

Super simple, right? And of course – you can change out things on YOUR picture frame button covered wreath to reflect your style, decor, holiday, etc.

The nice thing is that if you get tired of the wreath idea, you can easily take off some of the elements and use the frame as is. {double score!}
