Although we aren’t coloring eggs till next weekend {because it wouldn’t be Easter without some fun colored hard boiled eggs} I wanted to make some decorative eggs to add to our Easter decor.
These days I can’t do any crafts without my son being by my side – so he got to participate in the making. Which was great, because this Easter craft activity I’m sharing today is perfect for kids AND adults.
Recently I picked up some decorative plastic eggs at Walmart. I found them in the Easter aisle and they cost around $2 for a dozen.
They aren’t like the plastic eggs you use for egg hunts. They don’t split in half and almost FEEL like the real thing. But of course – they aren’t breakable. I know some children have egg allergies so these eggs are a GREAT alternative so they can still participate in the egg dying tradition.
You can of course, dye these plastic eggs with your traditional egg dye – but I decided to take it a step up. With some craft paint and a plastic container, WE shook it up and made decorative marble eggs.
The best part – these marbled eggs can make for pretty keepsakes and/or decorations for years to come! {Seems like a better investment than real eggs} I’m thinking about hot gluing some ribbon to one end, so we can hang them on a Easter tree.

Decorative Marbled Eggs Craft Supplies:
* Plastic Decorative Eggs – as many as you like!
* Craft Paint in Various Colors
* Plastic Container {with a secure lid}
* Marbles {or small beads}
* Wax Paper
Directions:
* Squirt paint inside your plastic container.
* Now place your marbles and egg inside. Secure the lid. Make sure it’s really tight.
* Then shake, shake and SHAKE! Not too much though. You have to find a good balance so the colors don’t mix TOO much.
* When done shaking, open your container to see your marbled egg.
* Place some wax paper down on a flat surface.
* Using your fingers, pick up the egg and lay it on the wax paper.
* Repeat steps for each egg you want to decorate.
* Let eggs dry completely for an hour or two.
* Finally, display them proudly.
