Handprint Flower Welcome Sign

Although the snowy weather is not exactly screaming “spring” time in Wyoming just yet – I’m pulling out this welcome sign Lil Man & I made a few weeks ago and displaying it proudly in my home. I’m taking it as my gentle clue to spring to hurry up! We are cold in Cheyenne 😉

For me, nothing screams springtime more than fresh flowers in bright, pastel colors. So that’s exactly the theme of today’s latest kids craft tutorial from us.

Using some paint and my son’s hands, I turned handprints into flowers for a festive canvas decoration. Adding the words “welcome” to it, made it perfect to hang on our front door. I also like to think the handprints are waving “hi” at our guests as they approach the door.

Craft Supplies:

• Large Blank White Canvas
• Washable Craft Paint
• Small Paper Plate
• Foam Paint Brushes
• Letter Stencil
• Cute Kid w/Hands

Directions:

• First I stenciled/painted “welcome” onto the canvas. After I was done, there were a few spots I didn’t like and I felt like it didn’t stand out as much as I wanted it to. So I took a sharpie and outlined the letters.
• Next were the handprints. For this, I just painted my son’s hands and had him press them on the canvas.
• To finish off the canvas, I painted on details like a stem for the flowers, as well as grass and other little details on the bottom.
• To display easily the handprint spring canvas, I hot glued ribbon to the back. I added my son’s name/age on the back with a marker.
