Horse Handprint Keepsake Canvas Craft
Did you know I have siblings that are horses?
No – this isn’t sibling rivalry or me being mean on the internet. There is some truth to the above statement.
Since I graduated high school, my mom has had horses. They are her “children.” I AM the only child BUT let’s just say, these horses are well loved. {Very well loved}
One is a male {The Old Man} and the other, a female {Clara} If you couldn’t tell from the above pictures – Lil Man is pretty smitten with them too! My mom may have a little cowboy in the making with him.
So for a late Christmas present, Lil Man & I made this horse handprint keepsake canvas for my mom. It was a simple craft that I really enjoyed creating. {I ended up making two so Lil Man could have one in his room}
The canvas represents the two horses {the handprints} and of course Lil Man.
If you would like to recreate this Handprint Painted Horse Canvas craft with your child today, you can find all the details below! Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures when you are done on our Facebook page to see! #gluedtomycrafts
Here are the supplies I used:

HANDPRINT HORSE KEEPSAKE CANVAS SUPPLIES:
* Various Shades of Craft Paint {I used green, brown, red, black and pink}
* Various Sizes of Paint Brushes
* Large Blank White Canvas
* Young Kid w/tiny, cute hands
* Baby Wipes
Directions:
1. Before the handprints went on the canvas, I painted the scenery. Grass on the bottom and a tree to the left. This made placing the handprints on the canvas, so much easier.
2. After I was happy with the scenery, it was time for the handprints. You may want to do some practice handprints on some plain paper before you go to town on the canvas. This will allow you to explain what you want your child to do and/or aim for different looks. The fingers will be the legs of the horse, while the thumb will be the neck/head.
3. Once we got Lil Man’s handprints down, I painted on a mane, hoofs and eyes to the handprint to give the horse life. I also added some more details to the scenary – like flowers, apples, birds in the sky etc. Set aside to let it dry completely.
4. To display – glue ribbon to the back or frame. Don’t forget to add dates/ages/names on the back so you remember when it was done.
