I know Thanksgiving is FAR from everyone’s minds now…. but I just had to share these quick DIY store-bought hack Turkey cookies, I made a few days before Thanksgiving.
As a blogger, things got chaotic and I didn’t get a chance to share it on the blog in time. BUT I just can’t let these pictures go to waste ;) Hopefully this post can inspire you for next year! {Or for any day of the year!}
Because of all the activities going on during Thanksgiving – I used store bought peanut butter cookies {Ok, I was lazy but it was a hack that saved SOOOO much time!}
Even though the cookies were store bought, the Thanksgiving themed treats were still super delicious in my books. If you want to do the same, just keep in mind you need something that is circular in shape. And let’s face it – pretty much EVERY grocery store will have what you are looking for! #gluedtomycrafts
Thanksgiving Turkey Cookie Supplies:
* Store Bought Circular Shaped Cookies
* Canned Frosting {chocolate is great!}
* Candy Eyes {Found in the most craft/baking stores}
* Candy Gum Drops
Directions:
As for directions – First I put a good layer of frosting on the cookie {The canned stuffed is amazing for this since it makes a great evened amount in a couple of squirts}
Then I added the eyes and gum drops for the feathers/nose onto the frosting, to give it the look of a turkey. And that was it.
Simple, right? In fact – it’s so simple, you could make this into an craft activity for children to do for Thanksgiving. Give the kids full control and see what their turkey looks like in their eyes. Then of course – they get to eat it afterwards. It’s a win-win situation!
I surprised both my boys with a cookie each, when they came back from an outing. I think they were impressed by what I came up with. {I like to say that because there were crumbs and frosting smears a few minutes after they set eyes on the cookies} It was just a festive snack in celebration of Thanksgiving. Next year I hope to make more and gift them!
Call me crazy – but this post made me think of planning out Thanksgiving already for next year ;) Once a planner – always a planner! Which by the way, where did these last few months go????
