Reindeer Ornaments For The Tree
A little back story on today’s reindeer ornament craft idea. Last year this time-frame, I was walking through our local thrift shop when I came across a big bag of wood clothespins for only .75 cents.
After staring at them for a good few minutes {I probably looked crazy at this point} it finally dawned on me what they looked like! REINDEER! So for .75 cents, I couldn’t complain and tossed them in the cart with HIGH hopes of using them that very same day.
Well… little did I know that life would get busy and they actually ended up in a black hole in my craft room. Yup. Like so many crafters out there… my idea was just an idea, with little to no action afterwards. I honestly didn’t realize I still had them, until I was digging for supplies for another Christmas project last week.
So after recently discovering the forgotten wooden pins and feeling a little bit guilty that I never completed my originally idea, I pulled them out and set a goal to finally do what I had set out to do in the first palce!
And that’s where we are today! This past weekend, after “coaxing” my husband to craft with my son and I on the kitchen table, we had some Rudolph red nosed ornaments for our Christmas tree that I absolutely love. It only took some paint, glue and glitter. Easy peasy like I always like it!

Reindeer Clothespin Ornaments
These Christmas ornaments are great for kids to make and will look adorable on your tree this holiday season.
Craft Supplies:
- Flat Wooden Clothespins
- Brown Craft Paint
- Small Paint Brush
- Small Paper Plate
- White School Glue
- Red, Loose Craft Glitter or Sequins
- Small Wiggle Eyes
- String/Twine
Directions:
- First you will want to paint the clothespins brown.
- Squirt some brown craft paint on your paper plate.
- Grab one clothespin and make sure it’s completely covered in paint.
- Set aside and let dry completely.
- Once dry – add a drop of glue where the reindeer’s nose would be on the clothespin. Quickly shake loose, red craft glitter {or small sequins} over the glue dot to fill in the nose.
- Next – glue on two tiny wiggle eyes to give the reindeer life.
- Once done, set aside to let the glue from the nose & eyes dry completely.
- Lastly, if desired, add your string to the reindeer so you can hang it. You can hot glue string on the back of each clothespin.
- Then display your newly made clothespin reindeer ornament proudly for ALL to see!
