Christmas Tree Paper Mache Cone Craft For The Holidays
Hi friends! I’m so glad you landed on today’s Paper Mache Christmas Tree Cone craft tutorial!
On that note – I bet A LOT of you are already starting to pull out the Christmas decorations today.
For me – I have been anxiously waiting for this day and I’m a bit jealous of those who have had their trees out for a few weeks now. My husband “insists” that we wait for the day after Thanksgiving to pull out everything. {That’s if I nag him enough that day} Totally understandable from his viewpoint – but as a blogger – we have to be on top of things 😉 No worries though – that little rule didn’t stop me from getting in the Christmas spirit a bit early this year.
This past week, Lil Man and I have been busy working up a Christmas craft storm. One of those crafts happens to be what I’m sharing today – our Paper Mache Christmas Tree craft tutorial. With a little help from me, Lil Man decorated his Christmas tree exactly how he wanted.
Best part? I didn’t have to worry about broken ornaments or tinsel everywhere. After seeing that big grin on his face after he decorated his tree – I say this is a win-win craft situation for us. My son is almost three and was able to do nearly everything by himself. So I think it’s safe to say – this craft is easy & fun for kids {and adults} of all ages!
Here is what you need to do make a paper mache cone Christmas tree similar to ours, with your child:

Craft Supplies:
- Paper Mache Tree Cone – any size you like!
- Green Craft Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Large Glue Dots
- Large Craft Buttons {or any other embellishment you like}

The Directions:
- Like always, when it comes to my kid craft tutorials – they are going to be simple. This is your child’s Christmas tree and their creative juices should flow. Set up the paint for them and let your child paint however they want. If they don’t want green, so be it! Get the color they want. Heck – pull out some glitter if the tree needs it 😉 It’s their rules – so go with it!
- Once the paint is dry, add glue dots to the back of your buttons {or other embellishments} and have your child stick them on the tree. For added fun – play some Christmas music as they trim the tree!

This was so much fun to make with the kids. An inexpensive and creative way to celebrate the holidays!
And that’s it! You can even add more customization if you like. Really think outside the box!
I personally like this paper machine cone kid craft because it allows our children {and us adults} to be creative. There is no cookie cutter look when it comes to recreating it. And that’s what I love the most about it. Be YOU!
Our beautiful paper mache cone tree is already displayed {Dear husband – sorry but not sorry!} I also added Lil Man’s date/age on the bottom and I hope to treasure/display it for years to come. I’m thinking our Elf on the Shelf will need to make an appearance next to it too.
Wouldn’t this craft be a great tradition to do every year? Just to see how your child’s creative juices change throughout the year?
