If you are like me, you hate matching socks. I normally just take all my socks & throw them into my drawer. I rather pair them when I need them. And even then, my socks don’t match.
But now pairing socks can be fun! In a child friendly sense anyways.
My son is entering that age where puzzles & matching games are fun, so I decided to create a little game for him. I love making handmade games and having a little learning lesson behind it. Plus it can entertain for hours.
This little game I whipped up yesterday during naptime yesterday. It took probably an hour tops to pull together.
I call it the “Sock Matching Game.” It’s a busy bag idea where kids just match the pairs of socks together! That’s it! The game is composed of colored craft felt and clothespins, making it durable & simple. If you wanted to go over the top on your set, you could decorate them with fun embellishments and really make them stand out!
BTW – I used my sizzix machine to complete this DIY and the shape of the die is actually a stocking but I like the idea of socks better.
Find all the details below! Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your DIY felt sock matching game with us on our Facebook page when you are done! #gluedtomycrafts

Felt Matching Sock Game Craft Supplies:
This is what we used and you may need: various colors of basic craft felt, wooden clothespins, fabric scissors, hot glue gun/fabric glue and sizzix die cut machine & stocking die
This is the die I used in my machine but if you don’t have the machine/die, you could free hand it by tracing/cutting it out with scissors.
Directions:
* First cut your felt and run it through the machine to make your sock shapes. If you are using the stocking die, be sure to cut the felt down a bit so you only get the stocking cutout, otherwise the felt will be wasted. Also, because of the design of the die, a portion of the shape I had to cut off.
* Repeat the above step to make as many socks as you like. Just make sure you have TWO of each color.
* Then using my remaining felt scrapes, I cut out some rectangles for the “cuffs” of each of my socks. Each sock got two rectangle pieces.
* I paired everything up and hot glued the pieces together. (If you prefer fabric glue, go for it!) One piece on the bottom, sock in the middle, then the top piece. This is where you could add some fun embellishments like glitter glue, sequins, paint etc…to give your socks a fun look.
* And that is it. The felt socking matching game is as simple as mixing all the “socks” in a pile & having your child pin the pairs together with the clothespin. Wouldn’t this be fun to store in a mini basket? Kinda like a pile of socks in a laundry basket? I’m on the look out for the perfect one. I have a feeling this game will get some good use out of it!
