You all know I love owls. (I’m guilty of hoarding anything with owls on it) And you all know I love crafting with my son. So this craft should come to no surprise, because I combined the two things I love into one. PLUS we made it with items already in our home, so no need to break the bank on this one. Got some paper plates & construction paper? Grab them and create these fun owls today!
First our supplies – You need paper plates (any size) construction paper/cardstock, glue, paint/paint brushes and various punches. I used a scallop punch & two different sized circle punches (but you could also free style these)
Next I had my son paint the paper plates. I added three drops of different shades of color, to create a marble/tye dye look. If I could do it differently, I wouldn’t have added so much purple because it over powered the other colors.
While those were drying, I punched out our shapes.
I also cut out some triangles out of orange cardstock for the noses. Then I stacked the punches & glued them together to create the eyes.
To complete your craft, all you need to do is glue the eyes & noses to the paper plate and you got yourself an owl.
What do you think? I also took this same concept with the punches and created some owl notecards. I will be sharing those on the blog soon. Stay tuned!
